Overview

Pucón sits on the shores of Lago Villarrica in Chile's Araucanía region, dominated by the perfectly conical Villarrica Volcano. While famous for skiing, hot springs, and adventure sports, Pucón also offers outstanding fly fishing. The Río Trancura and Río Liucura provide excellent wade fishing through native forest, while Lago Villarrica and smaller mountain lakes offer trolling and shore-based opportunities. The region's volcanic geology creates nutrient-rich waters that support robust trout populations. Pucón's well-developed tourist infrastructure makes it one of the most accessible fishing destinations in Chilean Patagonia, ideal for anglers traveling with non-fishing companions.
