Puyuhuapi is located on the Carretera Austral, approximately 220 km south of Chaitén and 225 km north of Coyhaique. The nearest airport with commercial flights is Balmaceda (BBA) near Coyhaique, about 4 hours south by car. From Chaitén, the drive takes approximately 4 hours on the gravel Carretera Austral. There is no public bus service with frequent schedules, so a rental car is strongly recommended. Fuel up before departure as gas stations are sparse.
